Thursday 27 April, St James' Church, Reading

"Imagine the society we could create if we chose to serve the wellbeing of people and nature first, and the generation of profits second."

Mac is an international speaker, writer and change-maker who seeks to inspire the emergence of the leader in each of us, the leader who will take courageous action for a better world. We were very blessed to have his presence at our Festival, a source of inspiration and optimism to those who came to listen. A video of his full talk will be up shortly.

Special mention must be made here of Father John, of St James' Church, who welcomed us in to his church, where most of his clerical brethren in Reading have been reluctant to engage with the 'Darkness' of our title. Inspired by Pope Francis' open letter on the environment, in which he exhorted us to love and care for it, Father John was willing to support any initiative that took this as its central message. This is a wonderful example of the small acts of courage and leadership which Mac was encouraging us all to commit to.
